Eligibility for B.Ed.

 

  • The candidates with atleast 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s degree (Medical/Non-Medical/Commerce/Arts) and/or in the Master’s degree or any other qualification equivalent thereto (any candidate with 49.99% or less marks would not be elgible) and 45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically handicapped Categories(any candidate with 44.99% or less marks would not be eligible ) from a recognized University established by law in India are eligible for admission to the programme.(Para 3.2 of Appendix IV NCTE Notification No.F-51F1/2007-NCTE(N&S) dated 27.11.2007.
  • The candidates who have appeared in BA/B.Sc/B.Com. final year or Master’s Degree examination and the result of the same has not yet been declared , can also apply for B.Ed entrance test.  However, the admission will be made subject to the production of certificate of qualifying examination with required percentage of aggregate marks at BA/B.Sc.B.Com/Master’s Level examination as per the eligibility clause of the prospectus on the day of admission /counseling. In case, a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility conditions on the particular day of admission/counseling, he/she will have no right for admission to the B.Ed course.
  • 85% seats are reserved for bonafied/Domicile candidates of Himachal Pradesh and 15% to the candidates of other states. One supernumerary seat for single girl child is reserved in the department of Education, H.P.university, Shimla.

Age limit:

There is no upper age limit for candidates applying to the regular B.Ed course of one year.(High Court orders in LPA No. 104 of 2012 decided on August 27th, 2012.)
